We Weren’t Expecting This
I jogged to the store to sell my harvest. I didn’t like jogging in the rain, but at least I had my mother’s umbrella.

Cortney watched Action World and when the show was finished, he switched over to the Cookin’ Channel.

I continued working on my large landscape. It was coming along nicely.

Cortney wrapped up his fourth novel, His Velvet Hands, in the late afternoon. He will be receiving §173 in royalties. His next royalty check will be §496.
That evening, when I finished my painting, I had to rush to the bathroom to vomit. I hope I’m not coming down with something.

When I was finished, I talked to myself for over an hour.

Then I brushed my teeth to get the taste out of my mouth. I went to bed early, hoping to feel better in the morning.

My first painting sold for §33.

The next morning, I went outside to putter in the garden. There wasn’t much to do as a lot had gone dormant. It was only three days until winter and the weather had been getting progressively colder. The other day, while I was at the store, I decided to buy a home pregnancy kit and this morning, I tested positive. I’m going to have a baby!

Cortney: Your father visited last night and woke me up on his way to watch Kid’s TV. Yesterday, he talked to me while I was eating. I’m starting to get used to having him drop by.
Precious Joy: I don’t remember much about my father, but I do remember watching cartoons with him. Were you able to go back to sleep?
Cortney: Yes, I went right back to bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
Precious Joy: That’s good to hear. I am comforted knowing that my parents are here watching over us.

Precious Joy: Cortney, I have something to tell you.
Cortney: What is it sweetheart?
Precious Joy: I don’t even know how to begin, so I’ll just say it. I’m pregnant.

I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I wasn’t planning on having children so soon. How would Cortney take the news? I was a little nervous about telling him.

However, my fears were unfounded.
Cortney: A baby? That’s wonderful news! I’ve wanted a baby with you since the day we were married.
Precious Joy: I hope I’m ready.
Cortney: I’m certain that you will do fine. Did you want to go to the furniture store and get some things for the baby?
Precious Joy: I’d like that.

After browsing around for a bit, we ordered a crib and changing station. Once we had paid for delivery and installation in our bedroom, we only had §579 left.

Cortney and I discussed baby names. We decided on Ayce for a boy and Ava for a girl. We commemorated the moment with a pregnant selfie.

I started listening to kids music while I sculpted. I wanted to be up to speed so I could sing the songs to my baby.

Later, I was playing games and Cortney asked me to stand up. He took my hand and led me toward the living room. When he started talking to the baby, my heart melted. He was in awe as he felt my tummy.

I went to the bookstore to buy a pregnancy book. When I returned, I found Cortney playing guitar. I could tell by the look on his face that he loves playing. He has almost mastered the guitar.

I just love this man and couldn’t imagine my life without him.
