I’m doing the 112-Day Challenge with Marlon Thomas in Glenvale County.
Marlon Thomas arrived in Glenvale County with lofty goals. His dream was to be surrounded by family, but first he had to figure out how to make enough Simoleons to support a wife and kids. Of course, first he had to find a wife, but that could wait.
Marlon Thomas is a Cancer who is friendly, neat, family-oriented, and a natural in the kitchen. He has a fascination with all things supernatural. His favorite meal consists of throwing whatever he has in the refrigerator into a single pot. He calls it Stu Surprise. His favorite color is blue, and he likes Rockabilly music.
He didn’t have much, just a tent, a fire pit, a car, and an outhouse on a tiny lot. He didn’t even have anything to eat.
Marlon decided to go to the park and see if he could meet some of the local Sims. It was only 8:30 in the morning on a Sunday, and the park was empty. He discovered a few trees bearing fruit, so he picked some apples and limes.
He stopped by the library and met Tremayne Cole and Jacqueline Little.
Tremayne Cole:
Jacqueline Little:
Marlon grabbed a cookbook off the shelf to read. When he gained a skill level, he read a gardening book. Then he joined the culinary career and got a job at the bistro, within walking distance of the library.
Marlon joined the hotdog eating contest at the summer festival and won.
That fall, he harvested pumpkins from the park. He decided to roast one for dinner. Could he eat all that?
It is Saturday night, the first week of Fall (week 5 of 16).
His skills are:
10 – Gardening
8 – Fishing
10 – Cooking
3 – Handiness
4 – Charisma
6 – Logic
1 – Athletics
2 – Social Networking
7 – Writing
Marlon has two life fruit (perfect quality) and two deathfish (normal quality) stored in a chest, and has learned the recipe for Ambrosia. He is ready for the last step of the challenge.
Currently, Marlon is a sous-chef (level 7) at the Little Corsican Bistro. He didn’t receive the promotion at work, so he asked his boss for it after she had left for the day.
He has completed 7.5 hours of community service, raking leaves behind the theatre.
The six books he has written are earning §2,806 in royalties. Marlon is writing his first poetry book, Free Verses Not to Free.
He owns the grocery store and is a partner of the bookstore, bistro, and coffeehouse. He has §2,176 Simoleons.
Marlon almost got hit by lightning! It missed him by inches.
I forgot to pay Thursday’s bills from week six! This guy came and took Marlon’s storage chest!!! It had his life fruit and deathfish in it! Poor Marlon is going to have to hustle to get another deathfish before the ponds freeze over. He had sold all of his fish and has to start all over.
Marlon was able to catch two angelfish from the park without bait. While he was fishing there, the pond froze over. I checked, and the pond at the cemetery was also frozen.
Fortunately for Marlon, it warmed up a couple of days later and was raining heavily. This melted the ice on the pond, and Marlon was able to catch some deathfish that night.
He had been lucky at the beginning of summer. He had collected a lot of special seeds, and several of them were life fruit plants. He also got two money tree seeds early and planted a third (spawned from the first, I think) right before the frost hit.
He bought a new wicker trunk from Around the Sims 3 on the property and put two of each of the best life fruit and deathfish. This was then moved to the family inventory. He bought a second trunk to store the remaining inventory items, keeping only apples and pumpkins for eating. Probably overkill. 🤣
Marlon has been raking leaves and tutoring children, accumulating 21 hours of community service.
He is fishing in the ocean, hoping to catch fish of higher value. The shark and lobster are both estimated to be at least §40 Simoleons.
I’m having difficulty finding rocks, metals, and gems in Glenvale County. It’s been quite a while since I’ve played there, and I’ve forgotten where the spawners are. It makes the challenge more difficult, but not impossible. The few places I found while searching around were picked clean at the time. He does a lot of dumpster diving instead.
Hopefully, he will accumulate §250,000 Simoleons by the end of Spring.
Marlon had quite a time of it. He had all the ingredients for Ambrosia and was able to cook different meals, eating a serving at several friends’ homes without being asked to leave.
Marlon went to the fall festival and got his face painted. Then he went to the elixir shop to sell his produce.
While at Eliza Hawley’s party on the first day of winter, Marlon was abducted by aliens. They returned him to Eliza’s house early in the morning. Rather than wake her to say goodbye, he went straight home.
He spent a lot of time at the beach fishing. He’d been catching perfect tuna to use as bait for lobster. Sometimes he was forced to eat an onion when he got hungry while fishing. Marlon put on a little weight, and his gait changed.
Knowing what was up, I built him a tiny 3×3 nursery with a crib and a rocking chair.
A few days later, Marlon had an unusual experience, and suddenly he found himself caring for a daughter. He named her Mandy.
Being winter, they spent a lot of time at the library so Marlon could write. I had aged Mandy up to a toddler, and Marlon taught her to walk.
He read her some books and taught her to talk.
Marlon left Mandy with a babysitter on most days so he could fish in the ocean. I had replaced the rocking chair with a toybox and potty chair. Mandy had learned all of the toddler skills. Mandy would remain a toddler for the rest of the challenge.
One of the townies was playing in the ocean in the middle of winter! He must have been a polar bear in a previous life.
Marlon and Mandy will make an interesting addition to any town I play. And despite trying to avoid it, Marlon had started his lifetime wish of being surrounded by family. The Sims has a funny sense of humor.
He will have enough royalties and investments coming in to meet the goal of §250k Simoleons by the end of Spring. It is Thursday of week 10, and his worth is estimated to be over §350,000 at that time.
Marlon’s estimated net worth:
§67,325 – Simoleons
§165,500 – Real Estate Investments
§5,493 – Property
§50,000 – (§10,000 – Weekly Royalties – est)
§ 64,000 – (§12,800 – Returns on Investments – est)
Marlon’s skills as of Thursday, week 10:
Marlon reached the top of the culinary career and was now a five-star chef. He received the MinusOne Kelvin Refrigerator as a reward for his hard work and dedication. It’s a shame that it will be sold at the end of this challenge.
Marlon loves his daughter so much. He snuggles with her all the time.
Marlon and Mandy visited Darrell and Gabrielle’s home for a party. Mandy and their daughter Shila played in the nursery while the adults visited with one another.
Marlon sold the rocking chair and bought a toybox for Mandy. She liked to climb in and play with the toys.
Marlon’s skills at the end of Friday, Week 12:
By Week 14, Marlon had completed 80 hours of community service (raking leaves – 31.5, tutoring – 1.5, training – 14.5, handiness (fix, clean, upgrade) – 31.5)
Marlon was struck by lightning.
Fortunately, he didn’t die.

SUMMARY
~texansky~ Even though Marlon was supposed to do the challenge on his own, things changed when his alien daughter, Mandy, was born. Since I will be adding him and Mandy to my games in the future, it seemed only fitting that her mother, Ninidash Ayohod, come with.
Marlon and Ninidash get attractive company moodlets when they are together, and are now best friends. It didn’t take long for Ninidash and Mandy to become best friends as well. I am not going to do anything with Marlon and Ninidash’s relationship. When I place them in a new town, I will let them decide what to do.
When I saved the family to the bin, Marlon and Ninidash’s inventories were empty. Mandy had her Imaginary Friend doll, Patches.
I broke Side Rule #5 by moving Ninidash Ayohod into the household during week 14.
Marlon met the skill requirements of mastering cooking, fishing, and gardening, and obtaining level 7 in charisma, level 8 in handiness, and level 6 in logic.
Marlon became a five-star chef in the culinary career, completing his career goal.
Marlon also completed 80 hours of community service by raking leaves, tutoring children, training Sims, and fixing, cleaning, and upgrading items on community lots.
At the end of the challenge, Marlon took §557,997 with him to the bin.
Marlon had earned 109,884 lifetime reward points, spending all but 387 points. Ninidash had earned 59,900 points, with 1,900 points left at the end of the challenge. Mandy had 21,650 points which she didn’t spend.
I played the game on the Epic lifespan so that Marlon would be restored to the beginning of the young adult life stage. Once the Ambrosia was consumed, I changed the lifespan to Normal and confirmed that Marlon and Ninidash were 0 days into young adulthood. I set Mandy to be 5 days into her toddler years since she had learned all of her skills.
Side Note: I have done this challenge twice, both with male Sims. Both times, my Sims were abducted by aliens and became pregnant. I am curious to try the challenge again with another male Sim to see if he will remain childless throughout the challenge, but I think I will do my next challenge with a female Sim.
I had to tell Marlon to continue preparing and cooking the Ambrosia multiple times for each dish, as he kept walking away from them.
