Sims 3 Challenges

Since the Sims 3 forums have undergone changes, a lot of the links for the challenges no longer work. I am attempting to compile a new list of the challenges with working links. The challenges below are divided into Legacy / Generational and Other Challenges and are listed alphabetically by name.

LEGACY AND GENERATIONAL CHALLENGES:

Centurion Challenge by lizzielilyy
The Centurion challenge is a take on the Decades challenge for The Sims 3. The added twist is that you get to choose the path your founder takes and this will impact the remaining nine generations. Beginning in the Early Modern era, will your sims live a life at Court, choose a simpler but less wealthy path, or avoid the status quo altogether? Enjoy all the game has to offer, probably with the use of a vast amount of CC or Store content too, as you move from one era to the next completing challenges and quests as you go.
This challenge starts in the 15-1700s and goes through the centuries to 1990-2009 and beyond.
To begin your legacy, you must choose a path. Will you rise to power and form a court of your own, or live a simple life? Whether you seek power, freedom, beauty or something else entirely? There is somewhere to start for all of us.
You can choose among five different paths which will determine your future gameplay: Rags to Riches, Socialite, Fairytale, Romantic, or Magic.

Centurion – World Building Edition by lizzielilyy
This challenge is a twist on the Centurion Challenge above. Start with a completely empty world and earn points by achieving tasks that eventually allow you to populate your world and place lots. The rules are simple, start with no lots except your own legacy lot and don’t add anything to the world until you have the points to afford it.

Evolution & Progress in Change (EPIC) Challenge TS3 aka Rourke Epic Legacy by StyxLady
This challenge is so unique and so different that you’d be hard pressed to find any one like it. The challenge is what you make it, you pick your rules and limitations through mini challenges and then, halfway through the challenge you choose your own path. How do you want your family to go? Towards the light…or towards the dark? Remember though, it all comes full circle.
Have you ever wanted to try an apocalypse challenge but found the rules too restricting? (And there are so many of them!) This challenge is for you! It’s a kind of a mix between an apocalypse and a choose-your-own-adventure book. (Does anyone remember those besides me?) It’s also perfect for those who crave a challenge that begins in the past, and becomes more modern with each generation. It’s fantastic for story-telling, but would work well for a commentary-type story as well.

Gemini Legacy Challenge by lizzielilyy
This challenge takes the standard ten generation legacy and doubles the fun. Can you handle parallel sibling legacies that are polar opposites?
Begin as you would with a usual legacy, except this time you will have two founders and they must be twin siblings. Begin on an empty 64×64 or 60×60 lot with no belongings. It is up to you how you go about building the legacy home; you may wish to have opposing homes on the same lot, a semi-detached situation, or force your twins to live in close proximity despite their differences. No cheats or mods are allowed and each generation is initially base game friendly but has optional extras for various packs.
Not to be confused with The Sims Astrology Legacy Challenge below.

Rebuild the World [2013] Challenge version 2.0 by angelbearpuppy
Original version by X8_Bliss
It is 2013 [or the year of your choice]. A deadly [insert whatever you want here for the end of your world]. It has wiped out all humans, ravaged their towns, and destroyed their buildings. All traces of Sim life have disappeared into oblivion. But all hope is not lost. One rag tag group of humans still live. A single Adult, and his/her four charges they somehow require depending on your story. These charges are as follows: 2 toddlers, 1 child, 1 teenager. [In the original version by X8_Bliss, the group was one young adult and two children, a male and a female. This would make the challenge more difficult. It was suggested to build an underground bunker for the young adult where they would live out their short life.]

Sims 3 Apocalypse Challenge a team adaptation
– based on the Sims 2 Apocalypse Challenge by Pinstar
The Apocalypse Challenge is a difficult, multi-generational challenge that begins with restricting nearly everything your sims can do. It is your job to keep your sims happy enough to rise in the ranks of their careers and lift the restrictions that make life so difficult for them.

Sims 3 Completionist Lepacy Challenge by AGkittie
I made this challenge because I wanted to experience everything in the game, so this challenge was born!
You do not have to do everything I have listed in the challenge, so don’t worry if you don’t want to do everything. It’s more of a list of everything that came in the packs, so you can do as many new things as you’d like.
The goal is to experience as much as you can in the base game and each expansion pack in order of release. The next generation starts when your heir grows up into a Young adult.
Generation 1: Base Game
Generation 2: World Adventures
Generation 3: Ambitions
Generation 4: Late Night
Generation 5: Generations
Generation 6: Pets
Generation 7: Showtime
Generation 8: Supernatural
Generation 9: Seasons
Generation 10: University Life
Generation 11: Island Paradise
Generation 12: Into the Future

Sims 3 Legacy Challenge by Pinstar
The Legacy Challenge is a long, 10-generation challenge where you start out with a single founder and very humble beginnings and try to lead the family to fame, fortune and success over the course of 10 generations.

Sims 3 LEPacy Challenge by simpishly
The earliest mention of this challenge was September 18, 2014 on simpishly’s tumblr account.
A Sims 3 LEPacy is a legacy-style challenge focusing heavily on the content and features of each expansion pack.
The primary goal of each generation is to fulfill a Lifetime Wish you haven’t done before – and, of course, to find a way to carry on the family name to the next generation.
The first generation starts with only The Sims 3 base game. Each generation, you add an expansion pack (and any stuff packs around that release date if you wish). If you included all of the expansion packs, this will be a 12 generation challenge.
There really are no specific rules other than exploring each expansion pack and enjoying the game.
McKBitt1075 has listed goals for each generation on modthesims.com. It is listed below, and you can find it here: The Sims 3 Expansion Exploration Legacy Challenge

The Famacy Challenge by lizzielilyy
The Famacy Challenge is a legacy based on fame and fortune. The aim is to reach the tenth generation having achieved fame and notoriety every step of the way. Which heir will be the most famous star of all? (Requires Showtime and Late Night)
The aim of the challenge is to complete each generation, with optional extras, and reach ten generations in total. There is a theme for each one and you can use cc and other packs to lean into it as much as you like. Each heir must have the two traits and the lifetime wish stated, all other traits and rewards are optional.
The 1st generation founder’s goal is to be a vocal legend.

The Random Legacy Challenge by Severedsolo, Calisims, Mimi250, NutandDolts, CinderEmma, and CyyKosis. The original challenge was created by Tigger89 who disappeared from the challenge before Late Night was released. This challenge has been updated to include all expansion packs.
This challenge runs for 10 generations. It is complete when the 10th generation completes all of its required goals, or when the 11th generation reaches YA, whichever comes last. It is not required to roll for the 11th generation, unless you want to!
Use the Random Legacy Challenge App. For the New Rules Challenge above, use the New Rules Roller tab. For the Classic Challenge below, use the Classic Rules Roller tab.
Click on Classic Rules if you want to use the original rules.

The Sims Astrology Legacy Challenge by lizzielilyy
This challenge runs for 12 generations, encompassing the traits and goals of each of the western zodiac signs.
You can start anywhere from Aries to Pisces and feel free to mix up the order as you go! I have written the generations in chronological order but that is open to interpretation, and story telling. The quotations for each generation are from cafeastrology.com where you can find out so much more about astrology and your own star sign.

The Sims 3 Expansion Exploration Legacy Challenge by McKBitt1075
This challenge does require all of the expansion packs but if you’re missing some and need to skip a Generation or change some Traits then go for it! I also know that moving towns will mess with the family tree so I recommend having a note in your phone or on your computer of the family tree or there are apps that you can get that will also help you build your own family tree. I don’t want this to be a super strict challenge or anything so just do what makes it the most fun for you! Happy Simming!

OTHER CHALLENGES:

112-Day Challenge by BlackSand aka HotBlackSand
Unlike most challenges, this one is designed to develop Sims, in 112 days, that will probably be used in games or towns later down the line. They can be “townies” or “active” Sims and work with NRaas Story Progression to produce more “depth” to the game. If the Sim completes the challenge, they will be able to fend for themselves … Gain a decent job in line with their Lifetime Wish, and excel at that job (among other things).

Doomsday Challenge Part I: Countdown by MistyDW

Doomsday Challenge {Completed}
Some of you may be aware of my “Doomsday Colony” challenge. This is the prequel and I am excited to bring it to you. Without further ado, here we go!
6:45 PM: It’s a warm summer evening in the town of Moonlight Falls. On your way home from work, you pass Sam’s Market Diner and decide to stop in for a quick bite. Twenty minutes later, a friendly waitress drops off a steaming plate of Goopy Carbonara at your table. As you shovel the first forkful into your mouth, the diner’s television changes from a sporting event to a late breaking news bulletin:
“This is Bob Newbie reporting to you live with late-breaking news right here in Sunset Valley. A few moments, ago, Dr. Morgana Wolff, Chief of Staff at Sacred Spleen Memorial Hospital, held a press conference regarding the discovery of a life threatening virus. Over the past 24 hours, twelve cases of this virus were reported at the emergency room. If you experience nausea or fever, report to your local emergency facility immediately. Until further notice, the town of Sunset Valley is considered quarantined and police officials are not letting anyone in or out.”

Doomsday Challenge Part II: Isolation by MistyDW
Note: There is a YouTube channel under the name of XStarSimmerX The playlist contains 45 videos where she plays this challenge to it’s completion.
Doomsday Challenge {Completed}
This challenge is designed to be played immediately after DOOMSDAY CHALLENGE PT 1: COUNTDOWN but may be played independently if you so choose.
You sigh deeply as you stretch behind your massive desk. The sign on the door reads your name and “DIRECTOR OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE”, in other words, director of a crew of one assistant trying to separate the wheat from the chaff of what Is left of human civilization. Still, if you succeed in isolating the right character traits and keeping the virus under control in your Unit, you’ll be well rewarded. It’s a big risk, both personally and professionally, but worth it.
Overhead you hear the beating of helicopter blades and from your office window, you spot a black and gold chopper cutting the night sky. The letters ISOCORP etched on the side, your employer. The plan has gone into action. Thousands of flyers will be dropped across every city. You thumb a copy in your in-box that reads:
“Do you hide in fear every day struggling desperately to hold onto life? Do you wonder when the T-12 virus or violent crime will steal a loved one away from you? Your government and Iso-Corp, a world leader in biological research, are here to help in your time of need. Colony Isolation Units (CIUs) are ready to accept you and your family. You will be fed, provided private living quarters, and protected if you possess the strength of character and level of ability that we are looking for. The government is preparing colonization in an area unaffected by the virus where you and your loved ones can return sanity to your life. Be one of the first to take a bold step in this next chapter of human survival. CIU transport vessels will begin arrival at your local general store tomorrow at 8:00 AM.”
GOALS: You have been given 7 days to evaluate each sim that you bring in to your Unit. You cannot look at their traits and skills (more on that under NEW SUBJECTS). The goal is to use physical and psychological testing to determine who is (and is not) fit for the Colony (described under the TRAITS section). If you choose to submit someone to the colony only to find out they were actually insane, colony admissions may find out and you will take penalties to your income (and eventually lose the challenge if you keep sending them poor specimens). Your unit is open for 60 days (essentially the period of time your sim is a young adult/adult). If you make it to the 60th day without being fired or complete meltdown (from poorly managing your Unit and the random event table) and your Unit has at least $50,000 in the bank, than you have won the challenge!

Doomsday Challenge Part III: Colony by MistyDW
Note: There is a YouTube channel under the name of XStarSimmerX The playlist contains 45 videos where she plays this challenge to it’s completion.
Doomsday Challenge {Completed}
The world is not what it once was. Bustling cities are now barren of sim existence. A tragic virus has devastated the planet reducing the population to near extinction. No one knows the source of the deadly virus; however, some speculate biological warfare or a scientific research experiment gone terribly wrong. The majority; however, blame the supernatural sims whose rampant arrival seems to coincide, as if they released the blight in their merciless wake. Mass hysteria and crime threaten to destroy the fragile life that remains.
In the name of “saving sim-kind”, a group of government officials, scientists, and powerful businessmen have come together to create “the colony”, a solitary sanctuary in a world gone mad. Here’s the catch, only the best and brightest contributors get to be a member. Survival of the fittest is at a whole new level, social elitism. Welcome to a world where average just isn’t good enough and producing a child that isn’t a protégé is considered polluting the bloodline. Good luck!

Doomsday Challenge Part IV: Devastation by MistyDW
The website link for this challenge on wix.com is no longer available. I wasn’t able to find the complete rules anywhere, including the wayback machine.
Note: There is a YouTube channel under the name of XStarSimmerX The playlist contains 45 videos where she plays this challenge to it’s completion.
Doomsday Challenge {Completed} MistyDW is MistyDW41 on YouTube and did not record these videos.
I compiled MistyDW’s posts about this part of the challenge and have written a blog on my site to make it easier for others to see without having to read through three full pages of posts. It can be found here: Notes on Doomsday Challenge Part IV by MistyDW
A description of the two options for gameplay in part iv of the challenge:
Day 23: House Day!!
(Savior): With 3 houses under your belt, you’re pretty proud of the progress you’ve made and the service you’ve been able to provide to the community. You’ve been meeting with a 4th prospective house. They’ve been hesitant to agree to join you in fear of what might happen. Late one evening, from a comfortable seat on your front porch, you notice an orange glow in the night sky. Fire! You grab what men you can muster and head out. The house you have been pursuing is on fire. You instruct your crew to set up a water bucket line to put out the fire when a women runs from the blaze screaming that her young child is still inside. You may either run inside and save the child putting your own life at risk or continue trying to put out the flames and not risk it. Decide now!
(Crime Lord) It’s time for a real show of who has the power in this town. One of your enemies has been very vocal against you, going so far as to rally others to root out your organization. This can NOT go unpunished. You order a raid on his house and instruct that no adult men are to be left alive. Women and children will be assigned to your other houses as servants to reward your followers. Once the house is vacant, you can assign it to one of your adult children and increase your area of influence. No one screws with you and gets away with it!!

Sim of the Month Challenge by Pinstar
There are 12 challenges showcasing different Sims with different goals. You download the Sim and play to achieve the goals for that Sim

Sims 3 Camping Challenge by ~texansky~
The goal is to earn enough Simoleons to build and furnish a three-bedroom home in 21 days or less – before your Sim reaches adulthood. This is a short challenge and there are no points involved. You either complete the challenge within 21 days, or you fail.

Sims 3 Farming Challenge with a Twist by PianoAshes
Our story begins with an old, rundown farmhouse with an unknown history. You have an elderly father who’s ill and very frail, a teenage main character and just 500 simoleons.
Our main character’s elderly father has just recently lost everything and they’ve had to move to a new town. They basically came to Appaloosa Plains with nothing and were given an old beaten up farmhouse and 500 simoleons on the condition that they renovate and build it up to be a working farm once again. The main character’s elderly father is too frail to do any work and has to be cared for by the main character.

Sims 3 “Official” Asylum Challenge by BlakeS5678, dated 7/29/11.
You have been committed to a run down mental health facility against your will. In order to prove that you are fit to rejoin society and earn your freedom, you must achieve the goal your psychiatrist has set for you – your Lifetime Wish.
The catch? You need to achieve your goal as quickly as possible, while keeping 7 other patients, who you don’t know and are out of your control, alive and as happy as possible. Add to that budget cutbacks leading to a lack of decent furniture and limited supplies, and your task gets harder.

Sims 3 Rags to Riches by HedvigsUnicorn
The goal of this challenge is to start a single Sim on any sized empty lot with zero Simoleons and have a house, and 10,000 Simoleons in household funds.
