My name is Charlotte Marcum but most people call me Char. I arrived in Alryne Valley with some Simoleons and a pink bicycle. I purchased a small plot of land near Lake Atherton that had a fenced in area for a garden, a fire pit, an outhouse, and a mature magnolia tree. I returned to town and bought a stand for My bicycle, a sleeping bag, a pet bowl, and a box of pet toys, as I planned on adopting a cat once I got settled. When I headed home, I had only §50 left.
Once my purchases were delivered and placed on the lot, ( hopped on my bicycle and headed to town. There was a community garden next to the grocery store. I started harvesting some of the plants and trees, hoping to get some good quality fruits and vegetables to plant in my garden.
I introduced myself to Ella Hanover, who was very pregnant. We chatted for a few minutes.
Then I met Michele McBride near the grocery store while Ella entered the garden.
I heard Ella groaning and realized that she was in labor. I ran back to the garden and helped Ella into a taxi to take her to the hospital.
Jedidiah Hanover showed up shortly after Ella went into the hospital to give birth.
Ella had twin boys. She named them Earl and Reggie. After helping bring her babies home, I headed back to the community garden to harvest more produce.
I was not able to harvest the entire garden as it grew too dark to see, so I headed home to sleep. It was raining and the sleeping bag was damp. When I woke up at 6 am, I lit the fire pit and roasted an apple and some grapes.
When I finished eating, I set out to plant my garden. I didn’t have much room, so I was limited on how much to plant. I planted an apple, some grapes, a tomato, as well as a midnight bean seed and a white cap mushroom that I found on the ground. I also picked a cosmos flower that I was able to sell to the florist for §600.
As an afterthought, I planted another apple, more grapes and another tomato.
One of my neighbors had seen me planting my garden and stopped by to give me another midnight bean seed, a basil seed, an apple seed, a red valerian root, and two corn seeds which I planted right away. My garden is more than half full now. Next time I go to town, I will purchase a sprinkler to water it.
I was not skilled enough to plant the limes, watermelon, bell peppers, garlic, onions, and potatoes. I also picked up an uncommon seed that I had no idea what to do with.
With the garden planted, I wandered over to Lake Atherton and found a good place to fish. My catch would be a good way to add protein to my diet. At first, I only caught tiny minnows, not even enough for a snack. By noon, I had a nice string of six minnows.
I hooked a nice quality toad. It was certainly much larger than the minnows I had caught, and I wondered if it would taste good.
I learned there were goldfish in the lake.
By 5 pm, I had grown hungry and returned home to roast the toad. I charred it, so it didn’t taste the best.
I put out the fire and paid my bills of §106. I’m not sure why the bills were so high. If I hadn’t sold the cosmos flower, I wouldn’t have had enough. I decided to go dumpster diving at the Watering Hole Saloon and Hogan’s Deep-Fried Diner. I earned §223 from the sale of the items and insects found. I bought a vegetable bin for §190 and placed my produce in it, keeping some apples to eat when I was away from home.
I was up by 6 am to tend the garden. I finished watering and weeding the plant and had an apple for breakfast. I went to the criminal warehouse and went through the three dumpsters there. I picked up a rock near the lighthouse and took a shower at the beach before finding a gem at the far end of the beach. I managed to befriend a crow. After selling everything I had collected, I had just over §2,000 at the end of Tuesday (day 3).
I decided it was time to buy a sprinkler, having spent too much of my time just watering the plants. I roasted the goldfish for breakfast. Having decided the minnows were too small to bother with, I sold them to the grocery store.
I received some silver, copper, and an emerald cut diamond in the mail and sold them for §325. I had a wish to go fishing again, so I got dressed and headed to the lake. After two hours, I had caught 4 goldfish and 3 minnows.
I decided I wanted to upgrade my sprinkler to turn on automatically in the mornings, but I needed to learn how to do this. I went to the library to read a do-it-yourself book on handiness. I sold my fish at the grocery store on the way home, took a shower and headed to bed. At the end of Wednesday (day 4), I had nearly §2,400.
After a lot of dumpster diving over the next two days, I finally earned enough Simoleons to build a single room on Friday (day 6). I put a small kitchen along the back wall with a window above the sink. I put a trash can in the corner and placed a table and one chair in the other corner on the right. Along the right wall, I placed a bookcase and a pet bed. I move the pet bowl to the left of the door, and placed my sleeping bag in the corner. I didn’t have room inside for a bathroom, so I will continue to use the outhouse.
The box of pet toys stayed outside to the left of the door. I was finally ready to adopt a cat. I called to see what was available. I adopted an adult cat named Tom. He is playful, proud, and independent. I talked to him, welcoming him to his new home. The first thing he did was grab the ball of yarn out of the pet toys and go behind the house to play with it. I filled his bowl with food. I hope he likes it here. I almost forgot to buy him a scratching post. I placed it outside, to the right of the door.
Tom and I played chase all around the yard.
Then I brought out the laser toy I had purchased and teased him with the red dot. He pounced and thought he had captured it, but then I flicked my wrist and the dot danced away.
I had §1,372 at the end of day 8. I need to go dumpster diving again. Maybe I can get some furniture for the house.
While dumpster diving on Monday (day 9), I found some tiberium. I went to Aleister’s and used the gem cutting machine to make a spire cut. I put the spire, and the pile of dust from cutting it in the yard for three days. I sold everything else that I had found.
On Wednesday evening (day 11), I consigned the two spires, valued at over §45,000 each. I received over §100,000 on my next check from the elixir shop.
Now I could afford to build a decent home.

On Friday (week 2 day 6), I completed the challenge with a fully furnished 3-bedroom, 2 bath home worth §33,774 and still had §118,072 left in my bank account. My total net worth was §151,846.
~texansky~ I was a little disappointed when Charlotte found some tiberium in one of the dumpsters. I was hoping she would have a bit more of a challenge getting the funds together for her home. I’ll have to try again with another challenger.
