Adam Servis in Sunset Valley

Servis Ultimate Legacy Challenge: Chapter One

Introduction: The Ultimate Legacy Challenge is from Mod the Sims, and the rules can be found here. It is based on the original Legacy Challenge – rules here. I started with an empty lot and zero Simoleons. To build on the lot, my Sim must “pay” City Hall §1,000 for the property. Generation One has a grand value limit of §1,000 per item sold, meaning my Sim cannot sell any individual item of value greater than §1,000 until later generations. I already had the Taxi Charge mod and the No Fridge Shopping mod, and added the other mods suggested in the Ultimate Legacy Challenge rules to make things more difficult.

And on with the story…

Week 1:

Adam Servis arrived in Sunset Valley with zero Simoleons and squatted on the property at 15 Summer Hill Court. His possessions consisted of a ChannonTec Outlaw SE camera and a Smartphone.

While streaming videos on his empty lot, he had a visitor, Feisal Keys, the University Mascot who handed him a University Welcome Kit. Nick and Vita Alto also dropped by to welcome him to the neighborhood.

Adam and Feisal chatted for a while before Adam turned his attention to the Altos. Nick was none too pleased to be kept waiting, especially by the University Mascot. Of course, being Adam’s local Sunset Valley representative, Vita bored him with her favorite long-winded speech.

As soon as the Altos left, a strange contraption had mysteriously appeared on the lot. Seeing no immediate use for the item, he sold it to Grady’s Junkstop for §725. Adam traded the welcome kit to a taxi driver for a ride to town. He started with a visit to the Papyrus Memorial Library. He spent half the afternoon learning about gardening, and started writing A Jigger of Nectar, learning to write.

Adam decided to have a little fun and played Skate on the library computer.

He headed across the street to Central Park, where he picked some flowers in the park, which sold for §455. He grabbed a plate from someone’s forgotten picnic basket and then harvested some apples and limes. After using the facilities, he cut through the park to the 28 Hour Wellness Gym, where he napped in a lounge chair by the pool for the night.

In the morning, Adam grabbed a bowl of cereal and returned to Central Park to harvest some more apples and limes. He picked half a dozen flowers, which sold for §885. He also picked up quite a few seeds. He crossed the street to the library to cool down and write more of his novel. Having earned the §1,000 to purchase his land from Sunset Valley, he stopped by City Hall to get his deed and building permits, and to register as a self-employed writer.

Afterward, he returned to the gym to nap in a lounge chair for the night.

In the morning, he had some yogurt and worked on strength training, increasing his athletic skills. He spent most of the day at the gym. After a nap, he headed to the library to finish his first book, A Jigger of Nectar. He will receive §40 in royalties. He returned home to build a 3×3 structure with a bed and toilet. It wasn’t much, but at least he could sleep on his property at night.

He planted an apple and all the seeds in his inventory and slept in his little shack in his new bed.

Adam returned to Central Park, where he harvested more apples and limes and picked up some more seeds. He also found a spiny turtle which sold for §900. Returning home, he expanded his shack to 4×4, upgraded his bed, and added a table, chair, and typewriter. He tended his garden, planted more seeds, and went to bed.

Adam is hard at work writing his next novel, Baldur’s Gate, a work of science fiction.

The garden is getting a good soaking of rain.

The day flew by in a blur. Adam visited Central Park, got his face painted, gathered seeds, flowers, and fruit, and visited the Pleasant Rest Graveyard during a full moon, where he collected three uncommon, one rare, and four special seeds. He had barely gotten to sleep when a burglar showed up. The thief was content to steal the only light in the place.

Adam only had §45 to his name after replacing the light. He has enough for one taxi ride to town and one back home before he would be out of Simoleons. At least the bills are all paid. He managed to finish Baldur’s Gate by the end of the evening. He will receive §84 in royalties for his second novel. Thankfully, he will receive his first royalty check tomorrow.

Week 2:

Adam woke up feeling under the weather. He managed to tend the garden before falling back into bed with a fever and chills. He was lonely, so he chatted with Sims online when he could. He was so miserable, and it didn’t help that he hadn’t showered in three days. His fever finally broke near midnight, and he fell into a deep sleep.

Adam awoke feeling like his old self again. Before heading into town, he ate some fruits and vegetables, tended the garden, and paid the bills of §6. He found some raspberry and strawberry seeds of very nice quality behind the grocer. As long as he was back there, he decided to go dumpster diving. He collected a lot of great stuff. As he crawled out of the dumpster, Fiona McIrish took the time to come over and praise him for his latest novel, Baldur’s Gate.

Adam thanked her, and, excusing himself, he cut across the park to the gym to eat and take a much-needed shower. Heading home, he planted the seeds and went to bed, sleeping in late.

Adam sold his dumpster finds and had enough Simoleons to add a fridge and shower to his humble abode. He tended his garden, had some breakfast, and had his first shower at home. He received an emerald cut smoky quartz in the mail, which sold for §25. He spent some time chatting online, then worked on his latest drama novel, Annette Went Missing, until bedtime. He increased his writing skill to level seven.

While Adam was tending the garden, it started to hail. He finished weeding the last plant and sprinted for cover. He ate some cereal, used the commode, and took a shower. He played Skate for a while before knuckling down to work on his drama. As he finished writing Annette Went Missing that evening, folks were already calling him the Tabloid Typist. His latest novel was a best-seller! Adam will receive §417 in royalties, bringing his total royalty check to §541. That evening, he went to bed satisfied with his progress in his writer career.

Fiona McIrish called to hire him to write her biography, Fiona of the Clan McIrish. After starting on the outline for the book, the computer broke, and he called a repairman as his handiness was lacking. While he waited, he tended the garden, stored some of the produce in his fridge, paid the bills of §15, and headed to town.

He sold the remainder of his produce to the grocer for §722 and bought some tomatoes and red berry beans to plant in his garden. He crossed the street to the library to do some research on Fiona and read a gardening book on how to plant rare and special seeds. Then he went to the park where he gathered seeds and caught a spotted turtle that sold for §350. He picked several rare flowers that sold for a total of §1,655, none more than §600 each.

He added another room to his home, upgraded to a double bed, and moved the toilet and shower there. He purchased a countertop, a sink, a bookshelf, a dining table, and two more chairs. He relocated the computer desk to the opposite corner and added five clay planters indoors for the red berry beans in anticipation of the colder seasons.

It was nearly midnight when the addition was finished, so he went straight to bed. The planting would have to wait until morning.

When he got up, he planted the remaining seeds and berry beans in his inventory and tended the garden. It was early evening when he had finished eating, showered, and used the commode. He spent the rest of the evening working on Fiona’s biography.

After tending the garden and replanting barren plants, Adam read a book about handiness. His goal was to be able to upgrade the sprinkler to auto-water the garden. After finishing the book on handiness from his bookshelf, he headed to town to sell his produce, and purchase the second volume of the series.

Week 3:

Adam went to the festival at Central Park. He had a snow cone.

Holly Langerak went into labor, and Adam took her to the hospital. She and Parker had a daughter and named her Mimi.

~texansky~ I decided to remove all references to days of the week in this post, and have only indicated the start of each week, as I am terrible at tracking time in my stories. One of the paragraphs above got deleted, so I had to recreate it from memory.
