Life Goes On

Week 6: Saturday

Christian:

I had just finished harvesting the crops outside when I got a call from our neighbor, Bertram Bedlington.

Christian: Hello?

Bertram: Christian, this is Bertram. I was coming home after having lunch at the Flying V’s Coffeehouse. As I was passing the Lexington Grounds, I saw a cat get run over. I think it might have been Angel.

Christian: Oh my goodness! I’d better get over there right away. Thanks for calling.

I hung up without saying goodbye and rushed to the Lexington Grounds, but I was too late. Angel had already crossed over the rainbow bridge.

I took Angel’s lifeless body home. Loni and I buried her in the family cemetery on the other side of the tree from Loni’s father Fred. The headstone cost §500.

~texansky~ You can barely see the headstone between the tree and the fence.

Loni and I finished our chores, had a late dinner and went straight to bed.

I awoke in the middle of the night to find Loni crying softly beside me. I took her in my arms and held her until she fell back asleep.

Week 7: Sunday

Loni:

I was heading down to the sub-basement when Christian called for me to wait for him.

Christian: Loni, I want to marry you before our baby is born. Would you like to have private ceremony right now? I have the rings in my pocket.

Loni: Yes, we can get married right now.

Christian took two rings out of his pocket and handed one to me.

Christian: Loni, I love you. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. You complete me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. This ring is a symbol of my immense love for you.

Lonis ring

Christian put the ring on my finger.

Loni: Christian, I love you. You filled a void in my life that I thought would be empty forever. Accept this ring as my promise to never leave or forsake you.

Christians ring

I slid the ring onto Christian’s finger.

We joined hands and our gazes met in wonder.

Married

We sealed our vows with a kiss.

Kiss the bride

Our lives were changing so quickly. I loved this man more than my own life, and soon we were having a baby.

Maybe sooner than I thought. My labor started just after the ceremony ended.

Christian drove me to the hospital where I had a beautiful daughter. We named her September. After Christian paid the hospital bill of §3,000, we headed for home with our bundle of joy.

September is a Taurus who is artistic and friendly. She likes dim sum, Chinese music, and the color black.

September Marsden

I placed September into her crib and kissed her forehead. Her skin was so soft.

Week 7: Monday

Loni:
After taking care of the chickens and milking the cow, Charlotte came up to me carrying her knotted rope toy. She laid it at my feet and growled gently, her body wriggling in anticipation. I took the challenge and picked up the toy by one end. She grabbed the other end and we played tug of war until my shoulder ached.

Tug of War

Playing with Charlotte made me think of Angel. I missed her so much!

Missing Angel

I went into the cemetery and mourned my father and Angel.

I found Charlotte and the raccoon chasing each other around the property.

When I went inside to talk with Christian, the expression on his face increased my sadness.

Then he cried for Angel and it broke me.

We shared our grief together.

Christian:
I was making pancakes for Loni when Charlotte came up and nuzzled my leg. She started to howl, mourning Angel.

Loni was happy that I remembered pancakes was her favorite meal.
