Precious Joy: Gen. 1.3

Engaged!

Cortney and I crawled into the tent for some alone time. I woke up in the middle of the night and discovered that Cortney had gotten up. When I exited the tent, he and my mother, Teri Forsythe, were staring at one another. I explained that my parents’ graves were under the black gum tree and this was my mother.

Cortney saw me and came over to flirt with me. He makes me feel so special.

I decided to tell a ghost story. My mother snuck up behind Cortney. He was terrified. I wasn’t sure if it was my mother or my story.

We went back to bed until daylight. When I got up, I was deep in thought. I think I am in love with Cortney Schultz. Am I ready to make this a more permanent relationship? As soon as I saw Cortney emerge from the tent, rubbing his eyes sleepily, I was certain. I called him over.

Cortney: What is it, my love?
Precious Joy: I wanted to tell you how much you have come to mean to me. I love you with my whole heart, and I can’t imagine my life without you.
Cortney: What are you doing?
I knelt down and held out a box to Cortney.
Precious Joy: Cortney, would you marry me?
Cortney: Oh, my gosh! Are you serious?

I assured him that I was very serious and asked him again.
Cortney: YES!
He held out his hand and I placed the ring on his finger. It was the happiest moment of my life.

Cortney enveloped me in his strong arms and gave me the biggest hug.

I can’t believe we got engaged in our sleepwear for all the world to see. I hope no one took pictures! Cortney flirted with me, then purred quietly in my ear. It sent shivers down my spine.

I had been working hard on getting my GED and it was finally time to collect my high school diploma!

I took a taxi so I wouldn’t be late.

I was proud of this accomplishment in my life. For the first time, I was content with my life just the way it was.

I couldn’t resist tossing my diploma in the air when I left the auditorium!

When I arrived home, Cortney asked me where I was off to in such a hurry. I explained that I had just graduated from high school. He congratulated me, embraced me, and kissed me soundly.

We celebrated with a water balloon fight. Cortney said he won, but I know it was a tie. I managed to knock him off his feet more than once!
